We are proud to announce the Second Edition of Klau Jungle Trail 2019.
Moving forward to second edition, we remained 25km 42km as our traditional distance. In addition, we have added two more category, which are 10km and 60km. Therefore, the second edition is catering for trail enthusiasm at all level!
The course consists of mixture of road, off road, trail and wild forest with minimal technical sections. However, bear in mind that 80% of the course is open ended (UNCOVERED), therefore runner must anticipate for running under heat condition.
Kampung Sungai Klau is a traditional village located roughly 2 hours away from KL and half an hour away from Raub. It owes its name to the Klau River, which was incidentally named after the kelah fish inhabiting its rushing stream. The charm of the village lies in its classic kampung vibe, reinforced by its pristine natural attractions and array of outdoor recreational activities. With approximately 90% of residents engaged with durian planting, both Sungai Klau and Sungai Ruan are referred to as the major production places of Raub’s Cat Sanno durians. They are famous for their “Musang King Durian”, the king of fruit.
Lata Berembun (Lata means “waterfall” or “cataract” in Malay) is considered as one of the best natural treasures of Pahang. Lata Berembun is located deep within the Benom range and is not too far from the borders of the Klau Wildlife Reserve; one of the most important conservation areas in Peninsular Malaysia (unfortunately it is off-limit to most people as it is not a national park). From the waterfall, which is on an estimated altitude of around 650m above sea level, the trailhead to Gunung Benom (2107m) begins. Gunung Benom is10th Highest Peak in Peninsular Malaysia.
Runner will run through tarred road, off-road, palm oil plantation, estates, wild forest in order to reach the pristine waterfalls, Lata Berembum. You will have no regrets to take on this challenge to be at this breath-taking, hard-to-reach waterfall!
